Next FFA Meeting

The next A-C FFA meeting for this school year will take place on Monday, December 18th at 7:00 P.M. in the Ag Center. If you can not make this meeting, make sure to give a note to your Ag teacher the day after the meeting. The Ag Challenge for this meeting will be the Feed Bag Hold. One male and one female member from each class will be needed for this event. The male member from each class will be asked to hold a 50 pound bag over their head for the longest time possible. The female member from each class will be asked to hold a 40 pound bag over their head for the longest time possible. The best combined time will be the one used in placing. A class must have a representative of both genders or they will be judged as not participating.

Upcoming Events

Ag Breakfast: The December Ag. Breakfast took place on Friday, December 1st at 6:15 A.M. at Frisch's in Lancaster.  There were over 40 members and parents in attendance.

Zoolight Trip: On December 21st, the A-C FFA Chapter will be going to the Columbus Zoo to look at all the Christmas lights. To go on this trip, a member needed to have sold 10 boxes of fruit/snacks. The members who accomplish this will be leaving right after school that day. Make sure to bring money for dinner.

Fruit/Snacks Pick Up: For any students who sold fruit and/or snacks, you will need to pick up your orders in the Ag Center December 11th through December 13th. Pick your products then, no later! Fruit is perishable, so deliver it as soon as you pick it up please!  

Christmas Break: This year students will be having December 22nd - January 2nd off for Christmas. Have a nice break and see you in the new year!


CDE’s

Public Speaking: This year Morgan Anderson will be representing our chapter in speaking the FFA Creed. Allie Poston will be representing our chapter in Beginning Prepared. For Senior Prepared, Emma Dearth will be representing our chapter. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Aaron Sharp will be speaking for our chapter.

Ag Issues Forum: This year our Ag Issues team will be comprised of Ellie Sahr, Allie Poston, Kaylee Sharp, Jay Sahr, and Kyle Hicks. Lastly our Ag Communications team will be consisting of Paige Hinton, Jullian Scott, Aaron Sharp, and Noah Smith.

Job Interview: Good luck to Emma Dearth who will be competing in the State Preliminary Job Interview, Senior Division, CDE on Saturday, December 2nd.

Past Happenings

Ag Breakfast: The November Ag. Breakfast took place on Friday, November 3rd at 6:15 A.M. at Frisch's in Lancaster.

Fruit and Snack Sale: The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter started their annual Fruit and Snack sale on October 16th. This year our Chapter has added four new items to the sale which includes; California Navel Oranges, Candied Peanut Box, Pecan Parcel, and Sunkist Fruit Gems Candy. All new items will count as a full box except the Sunkist Fruit Gems Candy which  counted as half a box. All proceeds went to the chapter to help pay for future activities. All orders were due by or on November 16th. This was one of the largest sales the chapter has had and we would like to thank all of those who purchased fruit or snacks from the chapter this year. Hog Roast: The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter Hog Roast was on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00 P.M. in the high school cafeteria. All members in attendance were expected to bring a food item to the potluck. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors were to bring a dinner item while seniors brought a dessert item. Community supporters and Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Alumni were also invited to attend. Our FFA Chapter  provided the roasted hog, dinner rolls, and drinks. The A-C FFA Alumni also sold the final raffle tickets for the smoker and drew the winner of the smoker that night.  We had approximately 300 in attendance and enjoyed good food and fellowship.

State FFA Officer Leadership Night: The State Officer Leadership Night this year was held on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:00 P.M. in our school cafeteria. Our chapter has held this Leadership Night for nearly 20 years, we are the only host school in our district and in central Ohio.This year, there were around 280 FFA members from thirteen central Ohio schools in attendance. All A-C members were encouraged to attend, as this was an excellent activity for members to meet our State FFA Officers, learn good leadership skills, and spend time with FFA members from other chapters from around the state.

Holiday Food Drive: On Tuesday, November 21st, our chapter dropped off over 500 food bags at every house in Stoutsville and Amanda to collect nonperishable food items for local families in need this winter. On Tuesday, November 28th, the chapter returned to Stoutsville and Amanda to collect the food bags that were donated. All the bags were brought back to the Ag. Center, where members sorted out all the food and then were packed into boxes. The boxes were then taken to the Amanda Fire Department to be given out to families in the community.

Fairfield County Fair: During the fair we had an FFA member receive a high honor at the fair.  Cassie Brewer was recognized as the 2017 Fairfield County Fair Equine Ambassador. We would like to congratulate Cassie for this outstanding accomplishment!

CDE’s

Job Interview CDE: In the Job Interview CDE members are to submit a resume, complete a job application, a follow-up letter, and participate in mock job interview with a panel of possible employers. This Career Development Event allows members to learn how to prepare for an upcoming job interview.

The County Job Interview CDE was on Thursday November 9th; Abby Stats placed 3rd for the Freshman competition, Allie Poston won the Sophomore competition, Ellie Sahr placed 2nd for the Junior competition, Emma Dearth won the Senior competition, and Abigail Farley  won the 1st year Junior/Senior competition.

The District 7 Job Interview CDE was at Clear Fork Valley High School on Monday, November 20th where Abby Stats placed 2nd for the Freshman competition, Allie Poston placed 2nd for the Sophomore competition, Ellie Sahr placed 3rd for the Junior competition, Emma Dearth won the Senior competition, and Abigail Farley placed 2nd for the 1st year Junior/Senior competition. Emma Dearth will be going to the State level for the Job Interview CDE, Congratulations Emma!
